Want to learn some simple yet effective mindfulness practices you can implement right away, every day?
Metta Meditation has been the topic of much research and is often referred to as "Loving Kindness Meditation". Metta Meditation is considered by many to be one of the most transformative single meditation practices when done on a regular basis with proper instruction. Science has shown this practice can get us into a gamma brainwave state. This is the state associated with optimal performance, peak creativity, and transcendental experiences.
Erin will explain the history, philosophy and science of Metta Meditation in an engaging and light-hearted lecture presentation supported by a visual Keynote slide presentation. You will learn a sitting meditation practice to support your daily self-care routine.
Erin will also explain the science, philosophy and theory behind the compassion mantras which will be experienced.
Metta Meditation utilizes four concepts that can help increase our well-being. In this practice we are getting in touch with the qualities of equanimity, loving kindness, compassion and joy which support the capacity for basic (and extraordinary) human kindness.
With consistency, repetition and gentle daily effort, this practice supports an increased sense of peace and well-being. As we learn to express kindness and compassion toward ourselves, through practices like Metta Meditation, our capacity to experience and share positive emotions increases. This improves our ability to navigate challenging situations with more peacefulness and balance.
In mindfully attending to our own well-being, we are better able to make a positive difference in our own lives and in the world.

Bring a Journal to Take Notes
There's no yoga asana practice in this workshop. It will be a combination of lecture-style and experiential mindfulness practices like guided meditation, breathing practices for calming the sympathetic "fight or flight" responses, and some experience of mantra - mantra means "mind protection" and it can also be a useful tool in your stress coping tool box.

Erin has intensively studied Tibetan Buddhism, yoga philosophy, inner body yoga, and independent and intuitively guided spiritual practices since 2003. She has led countless classes, workshops and retreats on topics including yoga, meditation, tibetan buddhist philosophy, pranayama, kirtan and mantra. Her life journey has nurtured an appreciation for the rich overlap of our complex realities. Erin has a particular interest in bridging the gap which is often perceived between science and spirituality, recognizing that only when we acknowledge the interaction and interdependence of the physical, spirit and soul can we find wholeness, authenticity and deep healing. She has a dream that one day we will all come to know and love ourselves for the powerful creative forces that we are.
She believes it is through a path of empowerment, responsibility and love that we will come into our full expressions and live the life of our Dreams.
